Not necessarily – if you have purchased check paper stock that already contains your baking information codded onto each check (check number, bank account number, and routing numbers with special numbers and symbols), then MICR toner is not necessary. If you are printing any of these numbers/symbols, then MICR toner is needed to ensure you do not incur service fees from your bank for rejected checks.
